The Island has the most extensive road system in Southeast Alaska. The scenery is amazing as you travel through old growth forest and clear-cut areas. The mountain and coastline views are truly unmatched. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound and the roads offer many hiking trails. Kayaking is available, as is canoeing. Hatchery Creek is the trailhead for the 30-mile Honker Divide Canoe Route. Great photo opportunities. Out on the ocean, you can whale watch as Orcas and Humpbacks pass through. |
